Short History of Schrade Pocket Knives
Schrade pocket knives are manufactured to the same high quality standards that George Schrade insisted upon when he first started manufacturing knives in 1904.In the late 1880s, George Schrade was a highly skilled machinist and toolmaker working for the US Patent Office’s model division, when he invented the automatic opening, switchblade, knife. In 1904, with his brothers Joe and William, he would establish the Schrade Knife Company, in Walden NY. Once the company was established, George Schrade woul dfocus on inventing machines to improve the production quality of their knives. His inventions included the neck drawing machine, the heating machine, sharpeners, saws on center, bone jigger, bolster and automatic shielding machines. George Schrade’s pursuit of quality and craftsmanship resulted in The Schrade Company producing some of the best pocket knives of his time.
It was George Schrade’s desire to make the best possible knife that has become the lasting legacy of the company that bears his name. All Schrade knives are made with the best materials using the highest levels of craftsmanship.
The Schrade brand was purchased by the Taylor Brands, LLC in 2004. Taylor Brands now manufactures Schrade Pocket Knives to the same standards for quality and the highest quality materials available, including:
