The Singer Featherweight 221 is the machine that established Singer the number one sewing machine manufacturer.

First introduced at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1933 and manufactured until 1960, the Featherweight model 221 was light (11 lbs) easy to use, and reliable. In addition to being a favorite of the American housewife (pre-WW II), being lightweight and self contained made it a popular machine for girls going away to college in the 40’s and 50’s.

Quiet, sturdy, and easy to operate, the Featherweight 221 is a favorite for both sewers and quilters. It is especially useful for carrying in to classes and workshops. With a little care and maintenance, your Singer Featherweight 221 will sew wonderfully for another 50 years.

If you currently own a Featherweight, or any other sewing machine for that matter, you can save yourself some money by learning how to repair your sewing machine at home.
